Road trip as incubator.
Here's a novel idea for how to come up with a start-up idea. Last week, 25 entrepreneurs boarded the Start-up Bus in San Francisco and spent the next 48 hours developing business ideas, which they then pitched to a panel of judges at the South by Southwest Festival in Austin.
The winners, a dating site aggregator called DateBrowsr and a dorm room inventory manager called DormDorm, will receive personal coaching from Silicon Valley angel investor Naval Ravikant. Our own Nadine Heintz tracked down Elias Bizannes, the Australian tech executive who organized the road trip. "It takes a certain kind of person who is crazy enough to start a business in 48 hours and do it on a bus," he tells her.

We are delighted that DateBrowsr was covered in the wall st journal...
The winner was DateBrowsr.com, a site that aggregates photos from a range of dating Web sites to give people quick access to what they want to see most when seeking a potential date - what people look like. The idea for the site came about almost as a joke, but the group decided it could work.
“Image is everything,” the site’s tagline reads. The site drew praise from investors because of its addictive quality, in the vein of HotOrNot.com, a popular Web site where people rated others online.

So DateBrowsr has an interesting story. DateBrowsr.com was built on TheStartupBus.TechCrunch: The StartupBus: The True Story Of 12 Strangers Building Three Startups, Getting Real
We conceived the idea at the Hewlett Packard Executive Briefing Center, we build the database on the way from Cupertino CA to Santa Monica LA.
Here is a Video of the team in action:
We build the UI and the Data Collection engine in Palm Springs, in Phoenix Arizona and and then on the way to El Paso Texas...
We will be lanching the website officially in Austin, Texas at the SXSW event!
